With more than 20 years experience as a marriage and family therapist, and as a graduate of Howard University specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, she is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are women's issues, depression, stress management, self-esteem issues, relationship/communication issues, anxiety disorders and hypnotherapy.
In addition to being a relationship therapist, Ms. Gillis has presented at universities, churches, organizations, and to general audiences speaking on the topics of stress, depression and domestic violence issues. Ms. Gillis has experience providing therapy in residential, educational and private practice settings, running groups for both children that have witnessed domestic violence and families who experienced loss through AIDS, and as clinical director of an outpatient mental health clinic. She also has experience conducting psychosocial assessments and providing EAP services for various companies.
